About Thrombosis Journal

What is Thrombosis Journal?

Thrombosis Journal is an Open Access, peer-reviewed, online journal that publishes biologically significant findings with clinical relevance in the field of acute and chronic vascular thrombotic disease.

Thrombosis Journal is aimed at the field of thrombotic diseases. This online journal publishes original articles on aspects of clinical and basic research, new methodology, case reports and review in the areas of thrombosis (platelets, coagulation fibrinolysis and vessel wall, risk factors for thrombosis and atherosclerosis) and related pathologies such as dyslipemia, hypertension, diabetes, immunology and obesity.

Thrombosis Journal will consider manuscripts on the diagnosis of arterial and venous thrombosis, new antithrombotic treatments, new developments in the understanding, diagnosis and treatments of atherosclerotic vessel disease, relations between hemostasis and vascular disease.

As an Open Access journal, readers can freely obtain the latest news in the field of Thrombosis, and authors benefit from no page restrictions and no limits to tables or figures, making publication more complete and more comprehensive

Content overview

Thrombosis Journal considers the following types of articles:

  • Original clinical investigation - full articles on human investigation, including brief communications.
  • Case reports - reports of cases that can be used for educational purposes or adverse effects of drugs or relevant positive and negative findings.
  • Latest therapeutic developments - discussion on the clinical value of new drugs giving an indication of their potential application, mechanism of action, doses, side effects and cost/benefit; these include drugs under development (Phase II and Phase III) and postmarketing (Phase IV) of drugs already approved and available but found to have new action, or indications in the pharmaceutical markets of different countries.
  • Original basic research articles - full articles on basic research (in vivo and in vitro) including brief communications.
  • Reviews - articles can be submitted upon specific invitation or editorial acceptance of an author's proposal; these may include short-reviews on specific topics.
  • Book reviews - short summaries of the strengths and weaknesses of a book. They should evaluate its overall usefulness to the intended audience.

Peer review policies

  • Peer review in Nuclear Receptor is designed to ensure that the research published is 'good science'.
  • Submitted manuscripts will generally be reviewed by one member of the Editorial Board and two external experts. Statistical methodology will also be reviewed.
  • After receiving the manuscript, a member of the Editorial Board will be assigned to oversee the peer review process. Peer reviewers should be suggested by authors, and the Editorial Office will aim to honour such proposals.
  • Peer reviewers will have four possible options, for each article:
    • accept without revision
    • accept after revision without expecting to check those revisions
    • neither accept nor reject until author(s) make revisions and resubmit
    • reject because scientifically unsound
  • We aim to publish research as quickly as possible. Our electronic submission process is designed to facilitate rapid publication.

Edited by Raul Altman, Thrombosis Journal is supported by an international Editorial Board.

Publishing in Thrombosis Journal

All articles will be listed in PubMed immediately upon acceptance (after peer review), and will be covered by PubMed Central, CAS and Embase.

Articles in Thrombosis Journal should be cited in the same way as articles in a traditional journal. However, because articles in this journal are not printed, they do not have page numbers. Instead, they have a unique article number.

The following citation:

Thrombosis J 2004, 2:1

refers to article 1 from volume 2 of the journal.

As an online journal, Thrombosis Journal does not have issue numbers. Each volume corresponds to a calendar year.
